Disconnected 

Digital communications (texting, email, Facebook messaging, and the like) are a central part of our lives and the dominant way many people talk to each other. These technologies have improved the speed of our communications and vastly expanded our social networks, but it is now time ask whether, by replacing direct human contacts with interactions between keyboards and screens, they are not changing the nature of human relations (especially the qualities of human understanding and empathy) in a manner we may not welcome.
